Siamase is the most popular short – haired cat. It is best known for its fine, glossy colourpoint coat. The siamase is a loving pet that seems less independent than other breeds. Siamase cats often utter loud, mournful meows until they get attention.
The Siamase has a long, slender, medium-sized body and a long, tapering tail. Its legs are slim and its paws oval. The cat’s long, wadge- shaped head has straight side and large, pointed ears. Its eyes are almond-shaped and a brilliant blue. The fur on the trunk of the cat’s body is a solid light colour. The points are blue, chocolate, lilac, or seal (dark brown). Siamase kittens are born white but develop their adult colour within a year. A colourpoint shorthair resembles a simase, but it’s points may be any colour or pattern.
The Siamase originated in Thailand, which was formerly called Siam. There, these cats were royal property and guarded palaces and temples. In 1884, a pair of Siamase, Pho and Mia, were taken to Great Britain.
